The purpose of this project is to raise awareness about the effects of diabetes on vision. We aim to encourage those affected by diabetes in Tuscon, Arizona to get annual eye exams. After reading our newsletter, we hope our target population understands 1) how diabetes affects the eye, 2) how annual eye exams allow diabetes-related eye diseases to be caught and treated early, and 3) how to schedule accessible and affordible eye exams in the Tuscon, Arizona community.
1) Increase the proportion of adults with diabetes who have a yearly eye exam—D-04
2) Increase the proportion of people with diabetes who get formal diabetes education — D‑06
3) Reduce the rate of death from any cause in adults with diabetes — D‑09
4) Reduce vision loss from diabetic retinopathy — V‑04
